WHO Declares Monkeypox A Global Emergency

A new strain of the Monkeypox virus is now circulating in Central and West Africa. The new variant called Clade 1b can cause more severe disease, including deaths. There were more than 1400 cases and 354 deaths in the first 7 months of 2024.
